Highlights from last month's menu

I've been really into trying new recipes. Many times I find that something is not quite right or that I forgot to make side dishes, haha thankfully Greg is patient with me. But, one meal that I have down pat is chicken tortilla soup. It has become one of my regular meals (Greg said it is one of his favorites ;). The Fish Tacos were gross, not sure what I did wrong there. The margherita pizza was pretty delicious, it is kind of hard to make tomaotes, fresh mozzarella and basil taste bad. If I were to do it again, I would use a different crust, it was a little thick for this type pizza. The steak quesadillas were okay, the steak was kind of chewey, but the suteed onions made up for it. I was thrilled to find this recipe for upsidedown chicken pot pie (it was on the back of the chicken flavor pasta side). It was so good, I am definitely going to make that again! The spicy bbq chicken turned out good in Greg's opinion (I didn't like it), I discovered that I am not a fan of Worcestershire sauce and probably won't use this recipe ever again.

So, we made it through August and September and we haven't gone hungry yet. Hopefully I keep improving my cooking skills and the enjoyment factor continues, too.

The adorable Kenzie Marie is 2!

Oh my dear little Kenzie Marie. She was so funny, she never stopped running and wanted nothing to do with the camera until we fed her cookies, that sure did the trick :) As I flipped through all the moments I captured of her, I couldn't stop smiling because her wide array of facial expressions is just simply adorable! Christa, thank you for letting me photograph your little girl. I am so grateful that I get to be a part of your lives. Happy 2nd Birthday McKenzie!!

Last Weeks Menu

Now that I am a wife, I figured I should try and take good care of my husband, or as I call him, Husby :) Last week was an interesting one, I had no idea how much work another person adds to your home, but we are loving married life and it truly is wonderful to not have to drive home alone at the end of the night, no matter how much work it is.

I have always loved cooking and now that I have someone to cook for and all these new wonderful kitchen appliances I decided to go all out. So, not only will you get to see my pretty friends and family that I photograph, but the meals I cook and whether they were success and failures. Enjoy!

Last week's dinner menu was chicken cordon bleu, fish picatta, and chicken stir fry. For my recipes I always check Rachel Ray first and then go to google if she doesn't have it. The chicken cordon blue was probably the best meal I made and it is actually pretty simple. The fish picatta tasted great, but I cooked a whole box of noodles for two people(way too much! haha) and, in my opinion, the presentation of the meal could have been better. I tried new cooking technique for the green beans, I blanched them. The left over beans made a delightful snack for the next day, too! The chicken stir fry was good, but waaaay too salty and I totally forgot to cook the rice!

So, last week's dinner menu had its good and bad moments, but the husby ate every meal with a smile on his face, so I guess it wasn't that bad. Maybe I'm just too critical of my own cooking.

A model-esk family of four

There is just something about capturing a family that is truly beautiful inside and out that brings an immense amount of joy to my life. I see my ability to capture a families dynamic as a gift from God to bless others and for that I am truly grateful. Thank you Uncle Steve and Auntie Laurie for giving me the privilege of capturing your gorgeous family and I hope these photographs make you smile each time you look at them. Enjoy!

(P.S. I'm getting married in 4 days!!!! Yippee!!!!)

Meet Baby Drew Douglas

Meet Drew Douglas. I love his dreamy skin and full head of hair. His big brother Trevor was a gem and hopped in for a couple of brothers pictures, so cute! Baby Drew's big sister Ashlee preferred to just watch :) Thank you Pam for allowing me to capture these precious moments of three-day-old  baby Drew Douglas. I hope they bring you joy every time you look at them.

God Bless you Drew and may you grow to be a strong healthy boy. May you bless all that you meet and become a warrior for the name of Jesus Christ. We love you! Amen
